Marrakech, the city so often confused as the capital of Morocco; forgetting about the great Rabat, which we will have as protagonist of an upcoming blog post.

Traveling from the north, crossing the Atlas, the trip by land is greater than five hours.
It is a zigzagging road, which goes up and down all the time. Undoubtedly this trip is one of the best views of travel that a traveler can enjoy.

In the distance, the first thing that is visible is the tower of the Koutoubia Mosque, symbol of the city. With its seventy meters of height, it is observed from the distance, with its tiles and stuccos, displaying and boasting of its extraordinary meticulousness of the Muslim art.

Marrakech means land of god, in Arabic. In recent years, it has become the city of reference in the country for its rich history since it was founded by Berber nomads who came from the desert.
Between the streets of the medina, its bustle and its folklore are emerging. In the souk, you can find all sorts of gadgets and souvenirs of all kinds: from precious clothes made from leather, especially from camels, souvenirs, souvenirs and electronic devices.

All this, announced – or rather vociferously – by the friendly polyglot sellers, ready to start a duel in the art of bargaining with each client who passes in front of his post.

Acrobats of all kinds, commercial transactions with shouts, hand-held readers, trainers of monkeys, trained soothsayers and music: charming cobras, who rather than enchant the snakes, enter into trance the tourist who attracts with the sound of his sharp flute.

At night, the square becomes another. All those characters that were part of the bustle of the day, are disappearing little by little and their replacements are arriving.

They are appearing, of the most subtle, a kind of stores like those of the desert and, along with them, a spell of smells that seduce the stomach and invite it to sit down to eat.

Snails, puff pastries, almonds, dates, olives, dried fruit, chicken skewers, apples, oranges and, nothing more and nothing less than couscous and tajine.

It is impossible not to enjoy that perfect disorder. The opposite of a city in northern Europe. Nothing seems to work well, and yet everything does.

Morocco is a country that has adapted surprisingly to tourism and take care of it as its own family.
Without a doubt, it is an intense city in all the senses in which we see it. The reddish color that characterizes it and that intensifies the rays of the sun, will be stored in the memory of all those who visit it.
